🤖 Creating your discord bot
You will need to create a discord bot using the Developer Portal, and we're here to help you through that process!
Head over to the Developer Portal on Discord
At the top click New Application
Give your bot a Name, and Select a team, Personal is fine - then click Create
This name will be visible publicly on the bot
You can setup a profile picture later in the settings
Nice! Now continue on down the guide to complete the setup.
🔗 Creating your bot on playercountbot.com & linking it to your discord application
This part is extremely easy and simple, this is also where you can configure your scrolling status messages and templates!
Visit https://playercountbot.com then click Login to discord ->
Click the Create
Enter in the Server Information then click Next
Fill out the Query Setup
For Minecraft: Your Query IP & Port are likely the same as your current IP & Port you entered earlier. If you are using TCPShield/Other protection use the connect hostname instead. (e.g. play.mymcserver.com)
For Rust: To show joining players you must use the Rust RCON method.
Click Next
Head over to the Developer Portal on Discord and click on the OAuth2 tab
Click Copy under the CLIENT ID on the OAuth2 Discord page

Head back to your playercountbot setup, and paste in the CLIENT ID to the Bot Client ID input.

Go back to Discord, then click on the Bot tab
Under TOKEN click Reset Token - this is necessary to get your token, NEVER share this token with anyone.
This step is always required when creating a new bot, we know, it's convoluted, blame discord.

Once you have your token click Copy

Now head back to playercountbot, and paste the TOKEN into the Bot Token input
Finally, click Create then you're done!
To invite the bot to your server, simply click the Invite button at the top right in playercountbot!
TIP: If you want to give your discord bot a profile picture, head to the Bot tab in the Developer Portal and you can change the icon & banner freely.
